Awards

Olga Caceanova is the recipient of the 2009 Saint Botolph Club Foundation Emerging Artists Grant.  She is the winner of many international competitions, including the 2005 Kiev Violin Competition, 2002 Sinai Competition in Romania and the 2000 Luxembourg Music Competition, among others.  In May 2009 Olga won second prize in Longy's All-School Concerto Competition, and achieved first prize subsequent to that.

This year Olga will be presented in the Kent Concert Series, Maryland, Shell Point Concert Series (FL), Piece Memorial Church in Clearwater (FL).

About

Olga Caceanova was born in Chisinau, Moldova where she began studying violin at an early age.  Olga has been a member of "Kremlin Chamber Orchestra" with which she toured most of the United States and Europe.  She has performed extensively in Russia and abroad, including most major venues in Moscow and St. Petersburg, namely the Glazunov Hall of St. Petersburg Conservatory, Glinka Philharmonic Hall, the Concert Hall of Moscow Conservatory and the Slobodkin Center in Moscow. During the upcoming concert season Olga will perform Stravinsky's violin concerto with Longy Chamber Orchestra at MIT and will appear at Oxford College in GA and Elmira College in NY in addition giving a number of recitals in the Boston/New England area.

Starting in September of 2010 Olga will attend New England Conservatory where she will study with Donald Weilerstein. She previously attended pre-college and college divisions of St. Petersburg Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Kazarina and has consequently studied with Mark Lakirovich at Longy School in Cambridge.  Olga has participated in masterclasses with Zakhar Bron and Grigory Girlin in addition to attending a number of summer festivals in Russia and Europe.

Since coming to the US in 2007, Olg has performed extensively in New England and in addition to serving as assistant concertmaster in the Civic Symphony.  In October of 2008 she performed works by Granados at the Cervantes Institute in NYC, recorded for WQXR.
